Overlooking the city of Amman flies the Jordan flag. The Middle East is a little creepy, even when beautiful. I suspect part of it is hearing the wailing during times of prayer. Very eerie and somewhat disconcerting considering the natural inclination, right or wrong, to equate muslim with terrorism. Amman is actually fairly modern. The Prince of Jordan spreads around a fair amount of cash, probably because he has a fair amount of cash to spread around. There is a heavy emphasis on attracting business - which is probably why Jordan is so liberal in Islamic circles.
