Understanding Women: A Blogger Provided Service Announcement

Continuing the fine tradition of education that Blogger consistently tries to provide through this site, the following information is provided to you from The Wall Street Journal's Best of the Web:
Guys, if the woman in your life complains that you don't listen
to her, check out this report from Netscape Men's:

When men and women speak, the human brain processes the
sounds of those voices differently, Britain's Mirror and Agence France Presse report of a new study from the U.K.'s University of Sheffield.
While most of us actually hear female voices more clearly, men's
brains hear women's voices first as music. But it's not music. It's someone giving them a honey-do list. So the brain goes into overdrive trying to analyze what is being said.
Bottom line: Men have to work harder deciphering what women are
saying because they use the auditory part of the brain that processes music, not human voices. Men's brains are not designed to listen to women's voices.
"Of course I wasn't listening to you, sweetheart. Your voice is
music to my ears." It's so crazy, it just might work.
This man really isn't hearing a word she is saying and rightfully so. Because he was made that way!

Blogger would like to point out that as a bachelor, he can come home and read the newspaper with the music of his choosing on in the background. He can hit the "pause button." He can fast forward. He can skip to the next song. He can hit the mute. He can completely turn the music off.

Married Blogger readers, try that on your music. Ha!

Overlooking the city of Amman flies the Jordan flag. The Middle East is a little creepy, even when beautiful. I suspect part of it is hearing the wailing during times of prayer. Very eerie and somewhat disconcerting considering the natural inclination, right or wrong, to equate muslim with terrorism. Amman is actually fairly modern. The Prince of Jordan spreads around a fair amount of cash, probably because he has a fair amount of cash to spread around. There is a heavy emphasis on attracting business - which is probably why Jordan is so liberal in Islamic circles.
Three scary characters with pyramids looking on. Is God displeased that Seth took the portion of muscle rightly belonging to Jeremy and me? Is Seth really holding us both up as we lean his direction? No major sunburns on the trip. Talk about a very major accomplishment for us gringos.

Imagine a world where everyone followed the speed limit. . .

http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-5366552067462745475&q=meditation+of+speed+limit

Well, that's pretty much what happens when people follow the speed limit (link borrowed from someone else's website).

Traffic is full of congestion, unhappy campers, and productivity is way, way down.

Steeler Fans at the Super Bowl

Blogger really feels no need to write an explanation of the quality of individuals in Detroit at the Super Bowl cheering for the Steelers. Instead, he directs readers to the following article:

Super Bowl trip lands brother of player extra jail time

POMPANO BEACH, Fla. (AP) -- Now Tank Carter has even more time to think about how much he enjoyed that Super Bowl party.

A judge increased jail time from six months to five years for the brother of Pittsburgh Steelers safety Tyrone Carter because he failed to report to prison on time for driving with a revoked license.

Tank Carter went to the Super Bowl instead and said he had no regrets.
He was to report to a Broward County prison on Jan. 6, but decided against it when his brother told him the Steelers had a good chance of going to the Super Bowl.

"Even knowing what I know now, I would do it again. It was the greatest game in my life," said Carter, who watched the Steelers beat Seattle from the 50-yard line in Detroit on Feb. 5 and partied with rapper Snoop Dogg after the game.
Tyrone Carter said he would have done "the same thing" for his brother.

This is one of Egypt's more distinguished residents. We were thinking he would look really good in the back yard of the Legal Pad. It's dusty enough here in Bakersfield for him to feel right at home.
98% of all people who have reviewed this picture agree that Seth (middle) definitely bears the most resemblance to Sphinx. The other 2 percent are undergoing psychological evaluation as we speak. Jeremy looks extremely European in this picture. Seth looks military. Mark looks like he could use a shower and a change of clothes.
How's that grab you? Best looking site in Egypt. Historical rock is their most precious commodity.

Blogger finally figured out how to post pictures. To commemorate bridging the gap between an unpictured blog and a pictured blog, Blogger shares with you the picture of The Legal Pad residents on the Bridge over the River Kwai.

155 on a Motorcycle?

The following article is about someone who got nabbed going fairly fast. Blogger has two points to make: (1) not to bright to run, (2) Louisiana's must not drive very fast if 155 is the most that anyone's been clocked around there.

Motorcyclist Clocked at 155 Mph JailedMonday, March 13, 2006 5:37 PM ESTThe Associated Press
LIVINGSTON, La. (AP) — A motorcyclist has been given a couple of days to think about the record he set — at least in the minds of state troopers.
Brian Samuel Willis, 20, was clocked zooming down Interstate 12 on Sunday at 155 miles per hour — more than two times the speed limit 70, state police said.
"That may be the fastest of all-time in the state," said Trooper Ryan Riley of Troop A. "I can't confirm it, but I don't think anyone has ever gotten anybody at 155. The fastest I know of is like 144."
Riley said he was traveling westbound about 6 p.m. when he got the motorcycle in his radar. Maneuvering his vehicle to the other side of the interstate, Riley tried to follow Willis, but the black Yamaha R6 ducked off the roadway onto state highway 441 and traveled south to state highway 42, Riley said.
At that point, Livingston Parish sheriff's deputies and Springfield police chased Willis back toward Riley, who made the arrest, he said.
"He pulled over once he saw all of us, without incident," Riley said. "He just said he didn't think he was going that fast and he didn't know we were behind him. He thought he was only doing 120 or 130."
Willis motorcycle was impounded and he was booked for reckless operation of a vehicle, flight from an officer and speeding, Riley said.
"The judge refused to set the bond until Tuesday," Riley said. "I think she is going to let him spend a few days in jail."
